On March 29, 2022, Jim Muscato presented materials and updated participants on New York’s aggressive Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act legislation and the permitting process needed to meet these goals and mandates for renewable energy projects. The event was hosted by the American Clean Power Association at its 2022 Siting and Environmental Compliance Conference held in Austin, Texas. The presentation was entitled, “New York’s Push to 70% by 2030 Policy Goals and Permitting Realities” and described how New York State can meet its target to have New York’s electricity sector generating 70% from renewable energy projects by 2030. Prepared with the Syracuse-based consulting firm EDR, the presentation highlighted the strategies developers can take to minimize obstacles to permitting under New York’s State Environmental Quality Review Act review process and the new Executive Law Section 94-c siting process. ACP’s Project Siting and Environmental Compliance event brings industry leaders, experts and external stakeholders together to discuss the most challenging siting and compliance issues for continued clean energy growth and satisfied host communities.
